Kirk's Traveling Kitchen is a private culinary events
company created by Kirk Warner, former executive chef of King
Louie's restaurant and Savor restaurant in the Central West End
neighborhood of St. Louis.
A
native of Paw Paw, Michigan, Kirk began his restaurant career at a
young age. In his mother's small bistro adjacent to the family
winery, he was both waiting tables and preparing simple bistro fare
before he was a teenager.
Following college, and after working in a variety of restaurants,
traveling extensively and reading every cookbook he could get his
hands on, he landed in St. Louis where a cousin had opened a tavern
called King Louie's. In just over five years as executive chef at
King Louie's he helped transform what was once a fledgling college
bar into one of the most respected restaurants in St. Louis, and in
the process garnered numerous local and national accolades for both
the restaurant and himself.
He
signed on to help open Savor in April 2004. While waiting for
construction to be completed on the project, he worked as the
private chef for a family from the San Francisco Bay Area. He
created menus, shopped from local farmers, and cooked for the family
of five (including Gracie, the youngest, for whom he was determined
to create the perfect “chicken finger”). In March, 2005 Savor
opened and in little over a year became one of the most popular new
restaurants in the city.
An
experienced and acclaimed chef, Kirk’s goal
with the Traveling Kitchen is to bring the craftsmanship and
dedication of a professional restaurant into the private kitchen where
his cooking expertise is utilized on a more personal level, for a
select group of clients who love great food. |
